| Update time.... I've started a few posts over the last few months, but each time my brain begins impersonating congress, and nothing productive comes out. I think if I was a writer I would starve to death in the first year.
Cohen is growing fast...to fast, it seems. It's scary how much they learn just by observing. He doesn't seem to want to do what I say, but he's pretty good at trying to do what I do. That means that what I say and what I do had better match up. He sometimes lugs a book off of the bookshelf and climbs up on the couch and "reads" it. The other night Kate and I were watching him, kicked back on the couch, casually reading a Ted Dekker book (upside down, of course). He never lasts very long, I'm sure he wonders what kind of dullards he must have for parents since they sit for long periods of time staring at blank books with no pictures. He's going to be 17 months in a couple of weeks, but he thinks he's about ready to start driving a car already. Here are a couple of pics of him.......wow, these are already outdated by a few months, to bad his dad's a slacker :)

In other news, we have another project going on in Nicaragua. In a few weeks, a group of fifteen guys are heading down to work on a building that will serve a couple of different areas of ministry. From an automotive repair ministry to a vocational school to team housing, it's gonna do it all! We would definitely covet your prayers as we head down......construction always seems to be an adventure in Nica, but fortunately for us we're not in charge, Someone Else is. Around ten months ago Gareth Flora, Stephen Bowser and myself were in Nicaragua with an Automotive Repair Ministry team working on pastors and missionary vehicles. After hearing from ARM and our host missionary Eric Loftsgard (hi Eric, if you read this) of the need for a building to facilitate these ministries, we felt that God was prodding us to go forward with putting a team together and raising funds to assist them in constructing this shop. It's certainly a first for us three to tackle a project of this size, so it's been awesome to see God put this team together and touch His people's hearts to give money and resources to this project, in spite of us . With a construction fundraising goal of $26,000, we are currently at 85% of our goal, so all praise to God for that, eh?!!!!! Here's a list of members on the team: Rod, Brian, Gareth, and David Flora, Dale Flora, Dr. Daryl Dutter, Cole Dutter, Seth Renicker, Jonathan Renicker, Dave Sink, Steve Bauman, and myself are all leaving from CA, and Stephen Bowser, Aaron Crabtree and Josh Stull are leaving from Ohio. Nicaragua is a country with a lot of hurting people, not only the lost but also our brothers and sisters in Christ. It has humbled me that God has allowed us to be a part of what He is doing there to change this situation through the Nehemiah Center, Missionary Ventures, and many other collaborating organizations. If anyone is interested in hearing more about what God is doing in Nicaragua or wants to help us financially with this project, please feel free to contact me at bdavekate@yahoo.com ------ I should add that I am very passionate about it and Kate says I tend to ramble...so consider yourself warned . Thanks so much for your prayers..

Kt and I were coming out of the theatre Saturday night and we saw this t-shirt. It was the funniest t-shirt that I've seen in a long, long time. We saw a movie called "One Night With the King". It is based on the story of Esther. It was actually pretty good. I think the director must be a LOTR fan because he had the "epic" soundtrack and lots of slo-mo through out the movie, but relatively speaking it was worth the time to go see. The movie had an interesting take on Hamaan. It claimed that when King Saul was ordered by God through Samuel to destroy the Amalekites, and he disobeyed by allowing King Agog to live, Agog's pregnant wife was able to escape before Samuel could find her and kill her as well as Agog. She survived, had her baby, and Hamaan was actually a descendent of King Agog of the Amalekites. So he was planning the destruction of the Jews his whole life. Has anyone else seen themovie? I had never heard of the Hamaan/Amalekite connection before. Am I just an ignorant idiot , or did the writers of the movie take some "creative" license? | | |
